And In This Week's Twin Update...

This little twin gets some sleep, while Daddy once again gets none!

So That Is What Hands Are For!

And here, Squirrel gets a grip--actually quite a strong grip, considering that only last month her premie fingers were no bigger than fork tines. But also it seems that such practices might eventually lead to trouble--the opening of doors, the asking for money, the holding of some boy's hand. Click play TWICE.

Never A Good Sign

As most of you know, it's never a good sign when you arrive at Kevin's house for an early morning coffee date, only to find that beside his porch are a pile of French cigarette butts and a glass half filled with Jack. Yes, a half glass WITH ONE LONE ICE CUBE still floating in the mash. Admittedly the ice cube was small, little more than a fingernail paring. Also true, it was a cold day. Here's another bad sign, when you knock on his bedroom window, only to have him stagger out of bed wearing a wrinkled Cuban guayabera shirt, black slacks, AND SHOES.

So in honor of today's coffee date with Kevin, I would like to start the "My Favorite Kevin Story." In the comments section below, post your favorite story about Santa Barbara's favorite drummer. Who knows, I might add one as well.

The Twins

The Twins turned six weeks last Sunday, though in another sense, since their full term due date was September 3, maybe they are really only 10 days old. Either way, here are a couple photos taken today and yesterday. Presently I'm calling the first one "No Sleep for Daddy." The other I'm pinning with the tag, "Daddy, start saving for my wedding now!"

Oh yeah, the other photo...

No Sleep for Daddy.

We're So Sorry, Raymond Carver

Ok, so I've never actually transferred the contents of my photo card to my computer--until today. Here's one of the gems I found lurking there. This is a short clip of me and Virgil Suarez in Port Angeles, WA, at the grave site of the short story writer, Raymond Carver. There are two strange things to note: (1) the image of both Ray Carver and his wife, Tess Gallagher, are on the memorial, though Tess is still alive and well. And (2) as a tribute to Ray, Virgil brought him a Cuban cigar, which he left at his grave until we reminded him that Ray died of lung cancer. I belive this clip is mid-cigar, while it was still on the grave. You can see it there, briefly.

Another neat find...

Here's another neat find on the old camera.

Kevin, too busy to have his photo taken, yet simultaneously mugging for the camera.

Sears, Dammit!

And another, which should be called by all: "Sears, Dammit!"

And lastly..

And the last good find on the camera. A short flick of the short story writer, Ron Carlson stirring the pot. The gumbo pot.
